Nutrient Management through Mechanical Separation
An On-Farm Demonstrator Project, launching in 2025, aimed at supporting the agricultural sector with their nutrient management

About the Project

Facilitated by the Centre for Competitiveness (CforC) and supported by DAERA’s Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) on the Sustainable Utilisation of Livestock Slurry (SULS), the Nutrient Management through Mechanical Separation Project aims to provide a sustainable pathway for Northern Ireland’s agricultural sector.

How will it work?

The Nutrient Management Project will bring mobile separators onto farms to manage nutrient surplus. Separated solids will be transported off-farm for further processing, leaving farmers with liquid fraction that is more efficient, and with reduced levels of phosphorus.
